Getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best value, change your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sea Therapy, Almost Oceanfront Home in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
