Strategies to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Seascape - The Perfect Oceanfront Getaway! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
