Rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Havelock rental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Seaside Villas, 3 story, elevator, garage, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bath. Sleeps 8-10 has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
