Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Spacious oceanfront home with large deck, beach access, grill, & W\/D has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
