Tricks and tips to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Surf Capsule suite - coastal retreat in iconic Atlantic Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
