Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sweetwater, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
