Tips and Tricks to get the best Havelock vacation property experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to book:

  • In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Upstairs portion of beautiful 2nd-row duplex with ocean view, central AC, & WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
