Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Quiet and quaint beach home with easy walking access to the ocean and sound side has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
