Booking the best Atlantic Beach rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your Havelock vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Quiet and quaint beach home with easy walking access to the ocean and sound side has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
