Our top Rental home tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Always N Season, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Havelock destination you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
