How to get the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Dog friendly-7 BR Oceanfront, Private Pool & Hot Tub. Walk to Restaurants/Bars! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
