Havelock vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Atlantic Beach:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanside Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC-Anchors Away Unit 1 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
