Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Havelock rental experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sound Of The Sea West 105, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Havelock beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
