Our top Emerald Isle rental home tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To book the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightvacation home:

  • To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Anticipation, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
