Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing your Havelock rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. MULTI-LEVEL OCEANFRONT CONDO NEAR FORT MACON STATE PARK has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
