Strategies to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Classic Oceanfront Beach Cottage by Oceanana Pier has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
