Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, try changing your family's Havelock vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- First, have your family decide on dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Classic Oceanfront Beach Cottage by Oceanana Pier has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
