Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 4BR, Ocean Front, Dogs OK - One Level! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
