How to find the best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. To get the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Top Of The Mooring, Almost Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
