Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick the right Havelock rental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly duplex with patio, grill, filet station, & private W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
