Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Beaufort. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the perfect Havelock vacation home:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Front St. Waterfront Cottage with Private Dock, Views, Walk to historic town has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
