How to find the best vacation home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Relax Down East in this home near Beaufort & Cape Lookout has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
