Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Ward Creek Cottage Down East has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
