How to book the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Emerald Isle OCEANFRONT 4 BR 1\/2 Duplex - watch dolphins from the deck! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
