Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to reserve a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book the best Havelock vacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Emerald Isle OCEANFRONT 4 BR 1/2 Duplex - watch dolphins from the deck! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
