Tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfect Havelock rental home:
- Start by having your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Harbor Lights, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
