Havelock rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Mermaid Cottage in Beau Coast Neighborhood Beaufort, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, email the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
