Tricks and tips to get the very best rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the perfect Havelock rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean front Condo with ocean views, beach access & shared pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
