Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Get the best rental value:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect rental home in Emerald Isle:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Panoramic Ocean and Sound Views Fantasea Cottage on Emerald Isle has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
