How to get the best Havelock vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best rental:
- First, have your group select vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Peaceful 3BR\/2.5BA home, easy walk\/bike to beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
