Finding the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Perfect Pool View & Steps to the Beach at APATB! #177 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
