Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sandy Feet Retreat! Wonderful Oceanside Townhome Sunday to Sunday has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, email the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
