Emerald Isle rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Serene beach house facing Bogue Sound & only a 10 minute walk to ocean beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
