How to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Havelock rental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Serene beach house facing Bogue Sound & only a 10 minute walk to ocean beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
