Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in Indian Beach. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Stunning 6 BR Oceanfront Retreat located on a more secluded part of the island has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
