Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Summer Winds 404, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
