Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by having your group select date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beach Bliss - Oceanview 5th floor condo in Fun-Filled Summer Winds Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
