Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Surf/Break, Soundside House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
