Strategies for getting the best Havelock vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental:
- Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Sand Castle, Oceanside House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
