Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. TOP POCKET FIND takes on Emerald Isle, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
