Finding the best vacation home experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the best vacation rental:
- Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Walking Distant to Beach & Gorgeous Sound View w/ Marina Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
