Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Finding the best vacation home:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. White Marlin-Walk to The Atlantic Ocean, 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
