Tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 2nd Floor Studio- Overlooking Pool! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
