Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Newly Renovated, Waterfront, Poolside, Ground-Floor, King Bed & WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
