Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Atlantic Beach rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3 Room King Suite-Unit 501 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
