Tricks and tips to get the perfect Emerald Isle rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. At \"The Point\" - Beach Access in front of house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
