Our top Vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Beach Cottages #4-Pet Friendly Condo in Atlantic Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
