Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your Havelock rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beachy 2 bedroom, 2 bath, Oceanfront, family friendly condo, close to everything has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
