Our top Vacation rental home tips:
Finding your best deal:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Condo on Front in Downtown Beaufort, NC has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
