Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group select the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Condo on Front in Downtown Beaufort, NC has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
