Rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Reserve your Havelock vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your family agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Cabin: Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
