Tricks and tips to get the perfect Havelock rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Ocean-view condo with beach access, WiFi, pool, washer\/dryer, & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you crave, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
