Our top Havelock vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental value:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Family beach cottage poised between the ocean, hiking, biking, eateries & shops has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
