Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick a perfect Havelock vacation home:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Hollandaise, Oceanview House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
